This is the fifth and final of '5x5' blog posts, covering the 'Twenty-five at twenty-five' projects, to give a flavour of our quarter-of-a-century in practice - have a browse of the others by searching '25 projects' at https://www.2bconsultancy.co.uk/2b-blog.php.
Creyke Beck
2B provided assessment of the route, and mitigation planting design, for this project that joined up a new power station to existing infrastructure - taking the opportunity to install Green Infrastructure as well as Grey.
At 20 years old, the planting is now making a significant contribution to biodiversity and climate resilience, as well as fulfilling its intended visual screening function.
NFM Guide
Working with West Wolds Slow The Flow partners, 2B developed the NFM Guide.
Easily digestible but informative, the guide introduces the many opportunities for Natural Flood Management to a general audience. It uses friendly graphics to explain the interventions, and rate their attributes to aid understanding of what features might be appropriate in different situations.
Siemens Blade Factory
2B is based in East Yorkshire, which we are proud hosts the Humber Energy Estuary. We designed the office entrance landscape for the Siemens wind turbine blade factory.
In a very industrial setting, we have provided a little haven of welcome, with a beautiful coastal planting scheme, sustainable drainage, and given a new life to some iconic Hull white telephone boxes.
Hull Pedestrian Signs
Our wayfinding project for this historic area of Hull was a great fun challenge and learning experience. 2B worked alongside Hull City Council, the City Centre Manager and CityImage, to produce signs that have gone on to become a visual icon for Hull. The network comprises 71 signs pointing to some 97 destinations.
Westcote Farm
2B produced a sustainable drainage master plan for a new housing development on a flood prone site. Putting SuDS at the heart of a layout gives an opportunity for new housing to have a sense of place built in, as well as the additional benefits to flood alleviation, water quality, biodiversity and amenity value.
