We warmly welcome Johanna Elvidge to the 2B team! We’ve been aware of Johanna for a while; through studying, working on a project with her, and volunteering together for the Landscape Institute Yorkshire and Humber branch, we know that her skills, knowledge and personality complement the existing team nicely.
We are delighted that she has chosen to join us – read a bit about her journey below:

It took a while to discover the Landscape Architecture profession, something which I find rather strange as I did BTEC Horticulture at School. I do think it is a career which needs to be promoted more widely at employment fairs etc, especially given the role which Landscape Architects can play in combatting the climate and ecological crises.
I went to university and studied 3D Design; this prepared me for a career in varied design roles.
The last 7 years have been spent working for a construction materials manufacturer, leading a small team to provide visualisations, construction detail drawings, advising on new products, and carrying out materials take-offs for domestic projects.
In 2018 I undertook an MA and PG Diploma in Landscape Architecture alongside my employment. Working in that role, in that industry, with the knowledge gained from university, gave me an opportunity to ‘Create Better Spaces’ and to advise on products that provide a better outcome for people, place and nature, lately more in the realm of sustainable drainage.
It was whilst working alongside 2B on one of these SuDS spaces that a seed of an idea was planted; for me to work with 2B!
Free from the fetters of the necessary inclusion of hard landscaping materials, and with guidance from 2B I feel I can make a greater difference, and create landscapes aligned with our shared ethos of integrating sustainability into land development and management, striving to create beautiful, inspiring environments and maximising benefits for clients, the community, and the planet.
My first two weeks have flown by, I'm busy learning the slightly different processes involved in working in 2B’s Landscape Practice. I'm really looking forward to learning new software and more generally being able to help the team wherever I can.
