The team all attended the LI Greener Recovery Festival and wanted to share our thoughts. We have created a series of blog posts detailing the event through our eyes.
It was Bill's first time chairing at an online conference, and fascinating to experience the amount of preparation and hard work that takes place in the background to make these things run smoothly.
Prior to each presentation, there were meetings held where event co-ordinators were able to brief those tasked with chairing the session, ensuring a consistent and seamless (for the most part) transition from beginning to end.
Landscape Institute Events Executive Ruhela Begum and her team worked hard behind the scenes to push the event on with a swanlike elegance.
Nature in Cities
During “Designing Water Management in Light of Climate Change”, Will Bennett quoted Sir David Attenborough;
“No one will protect what they don’t care about; and no one will care about what they have never experienced”
Bringing nature into cities, and therefore educating people, enabling communities to care and protect their own greenspaces, even in the traditionally grey-and-brown, concrete-heavy environments of urban life, is vitally important.
Bill, Will, and of course, Sir David, were in a consensus agreement: Experience is everything.
2B would like to thank all those behind the scenes at the LI, and the other chairs - it was a pleasure to be involved.
We first ran the blog above as a series of posts on our social media channels – follow us to be the first to get updates in future!
The whole conference is now available on LI Campus at https://campus.landscapeinstitute.org/event/li-cpd-greener-recovery-festival/
