Chelsea Flower Show

A beautiful summer’s day saw the team enjoying the Chelsea Flower Show - Bill and Elizabeth have been before, but for Amanda it was a new experience. We were inspired by many of the beautiful show gardens, and especially liked the naturalistic style of planting which is in currently in vogue - good to see a move towards biodiversity.

Many of the gardens had a sustainable theme - from catching rainwater through to composting toilets!

Of course, the design, details, materials and planting were consistently excellent throughout the show, and we had an inspirational day out.

Here are just a few of our favourite show gardens...

Telegraph Garden by Sarah Price
The Telegraph Garden, designed by Sarah Price had an informal planting style, and dappled shade was very welcome on such a hot day.
NIgel Dunnett LDA Blue Water Garden
Nigel Dunnett and TLA’s meadow planting set against crisp white walls - a lovely composition and biodiversity value.
Lands End GardenAmanda, Hilary and Elizabeth managed to get a VIP entry to the Land’s End garden!

We particularly liked their green roof of clover.Lands End Garden
Cleve West - Brewin Dolphin Garden

Cleve West's design took the best show garden award - natural-looking planting compositions were the order of the day for many of the show gardens.

Patricia Fox - Rooftop Workplace of Tomorrow

Even Patricia Fox's sleek ‘Rooftop Workplace of Tomorrow’ had a sustainable agenda, using recycled plant pots to create the furniture.

Nicholas Dexter - Climate Calm Garden

Lovely product design meant that features such as a rainwater butt and watering can in the Climate Calm Garden were not treated as a necessary evil, but rather incorporated as an attractive element within the garden.
